Canterbury Plains Scenic Flight

Departing from our Christchurch
heliport, soar west across the vast Canterbury Plains, a striking
landscape of braided rivers and pastoral farmland stretching between the
Southern Alps and the Pacific Ocean. From above, admire the patchwork of
grazing land, wheat fields, sunflowers, deer, sheep, and high-country stations
that define this iconic region.

Waimakariri Gorge & Castle Hill Basin

Fly alongside and into the
dramatic Waimakariri River Gorge, one of Canterbury’s largest braided
river systems. Follow the river as it winds from the Southern Alps toward the
coast, carving through rugged terrain.

Look down on the remarkable
limestone rock formations of Castle Hill, a world-renowned climbing and
hiking destination. In winter, the surrounding Castle Hill Basin ski fields
come alive beneath the alpine skyline.

From the air, you will also see
the famous TranzAlpine railway route as it journeys toward Arthur’s Pass
National Park.

Remote Alpine Landing Experience

The highlight of your Southern
Alps helicopter adventure is a remote mountain landing on a high alpine
summit. Step out into the crisp mountain air, take in panoramic views of the
surrounding peaks, and capture unforgettable photos.

Seasonal snow landings are available
during the winter months.
